Chill Out and Game On at Lane Park in Old Town Scottsdale

Where Ice Curling Meets Cocktails in the Desert
By: Sarah Mendenhall
Looking for a fun twist on your next company outing, date night, or group hang? Lane Park in Old Town Scottsdale combines ice curling, duckpin bowling, and axe throwing into one sleek, air-conditioned venue—perfect for beating the heat while leveling up your fun. And yes, you can actually go ice curling in the middle of the desert—how cool is that?

I stopped by with my husband and son on a hot afternoon, and we each left with a new favorite. My son couldn’t get enough of the axe throwing, I got totally hooked on duckpin bowling (it’s way more addicting than it looks!), and my husband was all about the ice curling—because where else can you slide stones across the ice in the middle of the desert?

Each game comes with an expert host who walks you through how it works, so it’s easy for beginners to jump in but still competitive enough to keep it exciting. The vibe inside is upbeat and welcoming, with other groups clearly having just as much fun.

And don’t worry—this isn’t your typical game bar menu. Lane Park’s kitchen serves up elevated bites like truffle fries, sliders, artisan pizzas, flatbreads, and shareable apps made for snacking between games. The bar is just as impressive, with signature cocktails, local beer, and wine on tap. I enjoyed sipping on the Garden Party—a refreshing, not-too-sweet mix of Grey Goose Strawberry, lemongrass, and lime that was just right for a summer afternoon. Other creative cocktails include the tropical bourbon-forward Kingpin and fun free-spirited options like the Faking It and Try Hard, which pack all the flavor without the booze.

Planning a group event? Lane Park can help coordinate group transportation so everyone can arrive (and get home) safely—perfect for corporate parties, birthdays, or bachelor/bachelorette celebrations.
Only in Scottsdale can you ice curl, bowl, and throw axes in the same night—and Lane Park makes it happen.
