Meet The Editor
Hello, Scottsdale! I’m Sarah Mendenhall, your editor and local guide to everything fun in Scottsdale. With a multifaceted career in media, design, sales and nonprofit fundraising, I’ve developed a keen eye for detail and a knack for community building.

Moving across the US (6 states in 8 years) with two young kids in tow, I’ve learned first-hand the importance of local knowledge. As a mom, I realized how crucial it was to quickly gather local information about things to do, places to eat, schools, housing, and more to seamlessly transition into each new home.
When I arrived in Syracuse, NY in 2014, I noticed a gap for a resource that compiled this information for parents. This led me to the online magazine industry, a journey I continued when I moved to Scottsdale in 2016. Over the years, I’ve gained extensive experience, publishing over 900 newsletters and making regular guest appearances on local news segments and live shows.
In my personal life, I’m known as the social coordinator among friends. I absolutely love planning exciting events – from chartering party buses for family outings to Buffalo Chips in Cave Creek, to organizing themed parties, concerts, and comedy show nights out. My enthusiasm for the lively offerings of Scottsdale, from its fantastic restaurants to its adventurous day-trips, drove me to create this comprehensive local guide to help others navigate the city’s best offerings.
As a long-standing member of the Scottsdale Living Facebook group, I have always admired what John Doering had built to connect our community. I’ve personally utilized the group’s recommendations numerous times, and saw the immense value it offered. When I first thought of building this site, it occurred to me – why not merge our resources for something even bigger and better? The idea of harnessing the collective power of John’s bustling group, which boasts over 47,000 members, and the business edition connecting over 1,500 local business owners, felt like an exciting opportunity. So, I reached out to John. Together, we decided to merge my vision with the Scottsdale Living community. Our goal? To create an all-encompassing platform for community members, visitors, and local businesses. Our platform now effortlessly provides everything you need – from information on restaurants, fun things to do, party planning, real estate, local travel and a consolidated local events calendar. We’re proud to say we’ve built a site that truly has it all.
My passion for bringing joy to others and my experience in the online media industry have culminated in this project. I’m thrilled to have built a platform that not only simplifies life for Scottsdale’s residents, but also allows me to share the city’s vibrant community and resources with visitors.
