The smartest shoppers know that just because something looks expensive, doesn’t always mean it is. And for the past 24 years, the savviest home décor shoppers from all over the Valley have made the Airpark Consignment store in the Scottsdale Airpark their favorite, go-to destination for expensive-looking, top-quality furniture and home décor.

This is where bargain hunters rejoice when they walk in and discover luxury brands like Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, Z Gallerie, Copenhagen, West Elm, and Arhaus is priced 50% to 70% off the retail pricing. Professional interior design help is also available.

“There’s always the fun, exciting feeling of being on a treasure hunt whenever you come into the store,” said Teresa Easterling, who recently became the store’s new owner. “You never know what beautiful piece of furniture, art, or home accessory you’re going to find here because our inventory is constantly changing. This is like an adult amusement park. It’s not just about the furniture, it’s about the experience…We have many customers who come in frequently, two or three times a week, because they just want to see what’s new.”

First opened in 2000 by original owner, Shellie Chiti, Easterling worked with Chiti for two and a half years as a sales associate and interior design consultant. She also has a long, professional background in fashion design and has worked in both the clothing and furniture consignment industry in Arizona for the past 15 years.

Asked about the advantages of consignment shopping and why customers enjoy it so much, Easterling explained that not only does consignment shopping save people a great deal of money, it also gives customers a much broader selection. Instead of making separate trips to various places like Arhaus, Restoration Hardware, West Elm, Design Within Reach, Crate and Barrel and many others, customers love the fact that they can go to just two or three consignment shops and find all of those different brands and many others in one, single location.

“I’ve been coming to Airpark Consignment for many years,” said MaryAnn Carmody of Scottsdale. “The wide selection of inventory is constantly changing and keeps me coming back.”

When customers walk into Airpark Consignment – where there’s always complimentary, fruit-infused water, cookies and pretzels to enjoy in a cute, little snack area – they are immediately impressed with the large variety and mix of different furniture styles that they don’t find in traditional furniture stores.

Selling the furniture and home décor items quickly and successfully for their consignors is the other main reason why Airpark Consignment has stayed in business for so long. For large items, they’re able to send a professional moving service to pick up approved items for a fee which they deduct from proceeds. A pick-up time can be scheduled within 48 hours. The store reimburses 50% of the selling price so it’s an even 50/50 split.

“There are many people who purchase beautiful, expensive furniture and, for one reason or another, they end up changing their minds about it,” added Easterling. “They move to a new location, or they decide to down-size. Then, all of their amazing, expensive furniture ends up at a consignment store. People need to know that and definitely take advantage of that fact.”
