Situated just east of downtown Phoenix, adjacent to the Sky Harbor International Airport, Pueblo Grande Museum stands as an archaeological site that was once inhabited by the Hohokam culture. Recognized as both a National Historic Landmark and a Point of Pride for Phoenix, this significant site can be easily accessed via the Sky Train and the Light Rail. Under the stewardship of the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department since 1929, Pueblo Grande Museum proudly holds the distinction of being the largest preserved archaeological site in the city.
Visitors can embark on a fully accessible 2/3 mile trail that leads through the mesmerizing remains of a prehistoric Hohokam archaeological site. Along the trail, notable features include a platform mound, a ball court, and replicated houses, offering a glimpse into the past. Within the museum, three galleries showcase an impressive collection of artifacts and provide informative displays on the Hohokam culture and the village site. Additionally, a hands-on children’s gallery offers interactive learning experiences. To commemorate your visit, the Museum Store offers a selection of Native American gifts, artwork, and jewelry.
From October to April, Pueblo Grande Museum warmly welcomes visitors seven days a week. However, please note that during the months of May to September, the museum is closed on Sundays and Mondays, so plan your visit accordingly.
